
Energy Advisor Candidate Foundation Level
Criteria
This badge certifies that the student has successfully demonstrated the knowledge and skills contained in Energy Advisor House Level Training offered by Red River College Polytechnic.
Description: This course will cover how to perform the EnergGuide energy analysis on a house including data collection, air tightness testing, HOT2000 analysis, and identification for upgrade options and how that information is transmitted to the homeowner.
Total instruction time is 40 hours.
Knowledge and Skills Demonstrated:
This badge certifies that the student can demonstrate the following knowledge and skills:
1. Conduct blower door tests and apply diagnostics for identifying leak location.
2. Use HOT2000 software, along with home geometric and construction data, to estimate house’s annual energy consumption.
3. Interpret the reports generated from HOT2000.
4. Demonstrate knowledge of the code of ethics, code of conduct and conflict of interest guidelines.
5. Recognize the roles and responsibilities of NRCan, service organizations, managers, energy advisors, and contractors.
6. Demonstrate the process of registration, designation and requalification process for service organizations, service providers, contractors, suspension, and delicensing/deregistration for energy advisors.
7. Describe quality assurance procedures within a service organization.
8. Demonstrate how to maintain courteous and professional relations with clients (e.g. dependability, timeliness, clear and polite communication)

The student has met the following criteria for success:
- Completed Data Collection Assignment
- Completed HOT2000 Skills Lab
- Completed Blower Door Skills Lab
- Achieved a minimum passing grade of 80% on the final exam
