In this module, students learn how to improve their relationships at work through an understanding of emotional intelligence (EI) and its role in leadership. Emotional intelligence is the capability of individuals to understand and manage their own emotions, as well as understand and influence the emotions of others. Using EI tools, strategies, and techniques, students explore common emotions and behaviours, and how to manage emotions to achieve goal(s) in the workplace. This module is part of the UpSkill Tourism Micro-credential Program and the Management Essentials Micro-certificate.
Criteria
Upon successful completion of this module, the student has reliably demonstrated the ability to:
- define emotional intelligence and explain its importance in the workplace;
- identify strategies, tools, and techniques to develop emotional intelligence at work;
- discuss ways to become more resilient and manage emotions at work;
- explain the role of emotional intelligence in leadership and how it can impact the work environment.
