Flexible leadership means moving from a one size fits all (“this is my leadership style”) approach to providing direction, motivation, and development in a way that aligns with each individual. The happiest, most successful, most confident managers and leaders notice the needs of their employees and flex their leadership style accordingly.

The quality of being self-assured and confident without being aggressive

delegate activities

Delegate activities and tasks to others according to the ability, level of preparation, competence and legal scope of practice. Make sure that people understand what they should do and when they should do it.

develop staff

Lead employees to meet the organisations expectations for productivity, quality and goal accomplishment. Provide effective performance feedback through employee recognition and reward in conjunction with the Human Resources Manager as required

give instructions to staff

Give instructions to subordinates by employing various communication techniques. Adjust communication style to the target audience in order to convey instructions as intended.

lead others

Guide and direct others towards a common goal, often in a group or team.

Set of traits and values which guide the actions of a leader with her/his employees and the company and provide direction throughout her/his career. These principles are also an important tool for self-evaluation to identify strengths and weaknesses, and seek self-improvement.

Criteria

  • Identify your foundational leadership style and explore the priorities that drive you during your workday.
  • Describe how behavior styles (your own and others) affect management responsibilities like decision making and problem solving.
  • Appraise your strengths and challenges when directing and delegating to others and adapt your behavior to manage people more effectively.
  • Discover what is needed to motivate others and plan how to provide it.
  • Pinpoint how to provide resources, environments, and opportunities that support long-term professional growth and prioritise what is needed for each employee.
  • Maximise your influence and effective communication with your own leader.
